Daniel Rosaia

Daniel Rosaia, the program’s first men’s soccer head coach, completed his fourth season at the helm of the Urban Knights in 2011.

ART U's 2011 campaign featured a 6-11 overall record (4-8 in the Pacific West Conference) and dramatic overtime victories over College of Idaho and Bay Area rival Notre Dame de Namur. The Knights also received three PacWest post-season honors including the program's second consecutive year with an All-PacWest Second Team recipient.

In 2010, Rosaia guided the team to its best overall record in program history (8-10 overall, 7-7 in the PacWest), earning 2010 PacWest Coach of the Year in the process. Men's soccer finished 4-15-1 overall, 1-13 PacWest in 2009 and the Knights were 5-8-4 overall record in Rosaia's first year, the team's inaugural 2008 campaign.

Rosaia brings his success as head coach of nearby Burlingame High School for nine years to the Academy of Art University. As the head coach of the boys varsity team from 1995-2003, Rosaia led the Panthers to three Peninsula Athletic League titles and four second-place league finishes. His teams were also very successful in postseason play, advancing to the semifinals or better for eight straight seasons. The Panthers captured the CCS Championship in 1997.

Rosaia is honored and excited to have a chance to build a program at the Academy of Art University. During the first couple years, he would like to see the Academy make a name for itself on the playing field and in the hearts of people. Rosaia has one simple goal and that is to ask young men to give him all they have on the field and in the classroom and to show the world that Academy of Art University has meant something to them.

A native of Burlingame, California, Rosaia was a four-year captain for the men’s soccer team at Burlingame High School. He went on to play one year at Skyline College under Frank Mangiola followed by three years with the Sons of Italy in the San Francisco Soccer Football League (SFSFL).
