Shampayne Clay

Shampayne Clay begins her first year as Assistant Coach for Academy of Art University Softball after serving as a student assistant in 2011 and playing two years for ART U.

Clay was a part of the Urban Knights' first ever softball team. She was with the program from the beginning and put up impressive numbers for the Knights. She finished her senior year with a .371 batting average with 59 hits, 35 runs scored, and 45 runs batted in. She also tallied nine home runs, and eight doubles, while posting a .591 slugging percetnage in 2010. Clay was named to the All PacWest First Team, along with being named to the All Region team that same year.

After her two years of playing at ART U, Shampayne finished with a career batting average of .352, with 100 hits, 57 runs, 15 home runs, 72 runs batted in, a .581 slugging percentage, and 12 stolen bases.

Prior to joining the coaching staff, the San Leandro native coached for the Lady Wolfpack travel team for two and a half years. This will be Shampayne's second season coaching the Urban Knights.
