Curt Moore



Moore has been a musician and teacher for more than 35 years. As he joins the Urban Knights, he brings not only a love and passion for music, but experience in several different areas of teaching.

Curt has been givng private lessons in percussion and drumsets to students all over the Bay Area since 1975. He currently teaches around 40 students per month. He has also been teaching at the Jazz school in Berkeley, CA for over 10 years. He has taught everything from the art of jazz, to Afro-Cuban drumset, to stick control. Curt has also released an instructional DVD titled "Grooves You Can Use" that covers many different styles and techniques of the Latin music settings.

Not only does Curt teach, but he performs as a freelance musicican. He has over 100 recordings to his credit and has worked with a wide variety of artists. Curt also leads his own 5-piece Latin-Jazz group called "Soul Sauce" and spent several years with the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum & Bugle Corps, the Blue Devils, and captured four world championships.

Moore recieved his Bachelor of Arts degree from San Jose State University where he studied with San Francisco symphony percussionist, Anthony Cirone. Curt graduated as a Performance major with and emphasis on Percussion and Jazz Performance. This will be his first year heading the Urban Funk.
