Brendan Lopez began as an Academy of Art University assistant athletic trainer in January 2024.
Lopez began as the head athletic trainer for Presentation High School in 2021 and provided care, rehabilitation programs, and injury evaluations for 400 student-athletes across 12 sports in the years that followed. For the duration of his first sports season at Presentation, Lopez also filled in as an athletic trainer for De Anza College where he covered the training room as well as traveled with baseball, football, basketball, soccer, track & field, and volleyball.
Prior to Presentation, Lopez could be found serving as an outreach athletic trainer for Los Gatos Orthopedic Sports Therapy in 2021, providing coverage for local high school football games. He spent some of that same year as a student athletic trainer for Helix Charter High School and as a temporary medical assistant with Japan Town Medical Group.
After earning his bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from San Diego State, Lopez finished his master’s degree in Exercise Science – Sports Psychology at Pennsylvania Western.
Lopez is a certified member of the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer and first aid/CPR/AED certified by the American Red Cross.
