Shareez Hamm became a volunteer for Academy of Art University track & field in January 2025.
A nine-time NCAA Division II All-American and Pacific West Conference Champion combining his indoor and outdoor campaigns with ART U, Hamm closed his collegiate career in memorable fashion by becoming the
NCAA DII National Champion in the Outdoor 400m hurdles.
Joining the program in 2020 after becoming an All-American and 400mH school record holder at Highland Community College, Hamm wore gold medals in the PacWest 400mH, 4x100m, and 4x400m relays in 2021 before going on to secure his first All-American honor as an Urban Knight in the outdoor 4x400m relay. The two seasons that followed each featured repeat All-American honors in the indoor 4x400m as well as the outdoor 400mH along with four more PacWest titles and the
2022 PacWest Track Athlete of the Year distinction.
Hamm highlighted his final collegiate season by hoisting the National Champion trophy in the outdoor 400mH, delivering All-American performances in the indoor 400m and 4x400m plus the outdoor 400mH and 4x400m, and making it three of the past four years that he contributed to ART U’s 4x100m and 4x400m PacWest titles. Indoor and
Outdoor West Region Track Athlete of the Year and
PacWest Track Athlete of the Year then went on to compete in the
U.S. Olympic Trials in the 400mH.
A 20-time All-Region selection and three-time PacWest Track Athlete of the Week, Hamm holds Academy of Art records in the indoor and outdoor 4x400m along with the outdoor 4x200m and appears on the program’s top five all-time list a grand total of 17 times across 10 different events.
Hamm graduated from Academy of Art in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in Photography and appeared in the institution’s prestigious Spring Show on three occasions.
