Academy of Art University women's basketball looks to build off two wins over teams from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in MSU-Billings' GNAC/PacWest Yellowjacket Challenge. Now, as four Urban Knights approach scoring milestones, ART U will face Stanislaus State of the California Collegiate Athletic Association as well as Central Washington in neutral site matchups on the campus of Notre Dame de Namur.

KNIGHT WATCH
Once again one of the PacWest's top teams in terms of turnover margin (5.80 - 2nd), Academy of Art has often made opponent mistakes hurt with the conference's second-most 3-pointers made per game (8.0). After both senior guard Regina Camera and senior guard Zoie Sheng moved into #1 and #2 among the program's all-time scoring leaders and PacWest Conference Player of the Week Jasmin Guinn averaged 28.0 points per game this past weekend, four Urban Knights now approach 1,000 career points. Camera (990) needs 10 points, Sheng (989) is 11 away, senior guard Sha'Nice Storey (989) and Guinn (983) each need 17 points apiece.

Guinn and Sheng, both members of the GNAC/PacWest All-Tournament Team and both among the PacWest's top nine scorers, currently lead the team offensively at 19.6 and 16.2 points per game respectively on the year. Guinn (6.6 rebounds per game) is the Knights' top rebounder and continues to further her spot as the program's all-time career rebounds leader (630). Another ART U career leader, Sheng recently dished out her 300th assist.

THE WAY OF THE WARRIORS
This past weekend, Stanislaus State opened its season in Alaska, topping Fairbanks 102-97 in overtime then falling to No. 7 Alaska Anchorage 91-42. Five Warriors scored in double figures in the win over Fairbanks, led by Taylor Faucett's 22 points. Faucett (12.5 points per game) and Cassidy Sanders-Curry (12.0 points per game) provide a one-two punch offensively. Stan State finished 9-17 overall last year and was picked to finish ninth in the CCAA Preseason Coaches Poll. When Academy of Art met the Warriors in 2014, six Urban Knights scored in double figures en route to setting the single-game program record for field goal shooting percentage (61.7 percent). With that victory last season, the Knights currently hold a 1-1 all-time record against the Warriors.

IN THE WILD
After finishing sixth in the GNAC last year, Central Washington was picked to take fourth in the preseason coaches poll and has started the year 2-0. The Wildcats topped SF State 59-39, holding the Gators to 12 percent shooting from the field in the first half. Versus Hawaii Pacific on Nov. 14, CWU built an early lead in the first quarter and just outlasted the Sharks in a fourth quarter that saw the teams combine for just 11 points. The team returns a strong core of eight players (four seniors), losing just three from the past year. The Wildcats will be led by experience, with four seniors returning. Through the first two games, 2014-15 Honorable Mention All-GNAC Jasmine Parker has led the team offensively, averaging 13.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. The Knights and Wildcats have met three times previously with ART U's lone win on Nov. 24, 2013.

ART U STINGS YELLOWJACKETS WITH 69-67 WIN
In a Nov. 14 matchup with Montana State-Billings, Academy of Art fought through nine ties and seven lead changes before securing the win with a layup by senior guard Zoie Sheng. The Urban Knights had four starters finish with double digit point totals: Guinn (27), Storey (13), Sheng (12), Camera (11).

LOOKING AHEAD
Academy of Art will return to Southern California on Tuesday, Nov. 24 for a single game against Cal State Dominguez Hills before finishing non-conference play with its fourth tournament, the CCAA/PacWest Challenge, at Cal State East Bay (Nov. 27-28).
