Jasmin Guinn claimed her second Pacific West Conference Defender of the Week honor of the year. Guinn's efforts contributed to seven straight games (all PacWest wins) that the Urban Knights have totaled double digit steals. The award was based on games played Jan. 4-10.
Guinn started the new year with six steals as well as her fifth double-double (16 points, 10 rebounds) in ART U's dominant 80-53 victory at Holy Names on
Jan. 5. Instrumental in a 71-62 comeback win against Point Loma
two days later, the senior guard finished with 21 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Finally, Guinn ended the stretch of three games in five days with 17 points, five rebounds, and three steals in another
come-from-behind triumph hosting Hawaii Pacific on her birthday.
For the week, Guinn averaged 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals per game as well as 18.0 points and 2.7 assists per contest. For an Academy of Art team that now ranks seventh in the entire country in total steals (191), Guinn has registered 3+ steals in 13 of 17 games. Additionally, she has notched 6+ steals on five occasions this year and not only leads the PacWest in steals per game (3.88), but also ranks third in NCAA Division II in that category.This is Guinn's second career PacWest Defender of the Week award and her third weekly honor of the season after she was Player of the Week on
Nov. 16 and Defender of the Week on
Nov. 30.
