Guinn Steals Third PacWest Defender of Week

PacWest Conference Players of the Week (Feb. 1)

IRVINE, Calif. -- Seemingly everywhere on the court in two ART U women's basketball victories, senior guard Jasmin Guinn has been named Pacific West Conference Defender of the Week. The conference's steals leader was in prime form, amassing 10 thefts in two games while helping her team to 27 points off turnovers in wins over Concordia and Chaminade. The award was based on games played Jan. 25-31.

The week began with Guinn stuffing the statsheet on Jan. 27 hosting the Eagles. She posted seven steals, 16 points, and 12 rebounds as Academy of Art allowed the third-fewest points to an opponent in the 81-58 final. It was her ninth double-double of the year and the ninth time this season that she has registered 5+ steals. With the Silverswords in town on Jan. 30, Guinn came through with 12 points, nine rebounds, and three steals.

For the week, Guinn averaged 5.0 steals, 14.0 points, and 10.5 rebounds (6.0 defensive) per game. For an Academy of Art team that has moved up to fifth in the entire country in total steals (258), Guinn has registered 3+ steals in 18 of 23 games. Additionally, she not only leads the PacWest in steals per game (3.78), but she has now assumed a second-place ranking in NCAA Division II in that category.

This is Guinn's third career PacWest Defender of the Week award and her fourth weekly honor of the season after she was Player of the Week on Nov. 16 and Defender of the Week on Nov. 30 and Jan. 11.
