OAKLAND, Calif. - Coming into Monday's matchup with Dixie State, the Urban Knights looked to continue their success in PacWest-play.
GAME ONE: The first four innings were indicative of a typical game thrown by junior right hander
Brett Bovee: scoreless. In fact, Bovee did not allow a hit until the fourth inning.
ART U took an early lead in support of the Las Vegas native, scoring two first inning runs. Senior center fielder
Joseph Marchini knocked in the first with a solid single to center field to score senior left fielder
Greg Ivory. After advancing to third on an errant pick off attempt, Marchini crossed the plate when senior first baseman
Brett Adami hit a high chopper beyond the mound before being thrown out at first.

All was quiet for the next three innings as Bovee went back to work, striking out two and only allowed his first hit in the fourth inning when Samuel Hall hit a blooper off of the end of his bat which fell into center field. The base hit would prove to be a mute point however, as the following batter grounded into a double play on the next pitch.
The Red Storm finally broke through in the top of the fifth, sending eight batters to the plate and plating three runs on five hits.
Now trailing 3-2, the Urban Knights would equalize in the bottom of the sixth: senior right fielder
Cody Edmunds singled to right field to score junior catcher
Zack Trueblood who had reached to lead off the frame.
It was now a tie ballgame, but Dixie State would pull ahead with a pair of runs in the eighth and one in the ninth to win 6-3.
Senior third baseman
Tyler Strawn had a big game, going 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and a walk. It was Strawn's second three-hit contest of the season, and his first since finishing 3-for-5 against Central Washington on
February 27. Ivory also had a successful game at the plate with a 2-for-4 effort. The game's runs batted in were credited to Marchini, Adami, and Edmunds.
All in all, Bovee posted his fourth quality outing of the season, tossing 6.2 innings, allowing three runs (all earned), eight hits, three walks, and five strikeouts.
GAME TWO: The second game of the Monday's double header was a quieter affair for Academy of Art, only compiling six hits in a 5-1 loss.
DSU quickly took a 1-0 lead in the first when Hall doubled in a run.

The Urban Knights threatened to tie the ballgame in the bottom of the second when Adami reached scoring positon with two outs, but junior left fielder
Cameron Jones Jr. grounded out to end the frame.
The Red Storm continued to add insurance runs with single scores in the third and fourth innings and two in the seventh.
Academy of Art saw their first run of the game cross the plate in the eighth. Edmunds reached with a leadoff walk and Ivory followed with a line drive down the right-field line that ricocheted off of the first baseman's glove, allowing Edmunds to advance to third. Red shirt junior second baseman
Erick Luna then battled for eight pitches, eventually grounding into a double play which scored Edmunds from third.
Trueblood had the biggest game at the plate for ART U, going 2-for-3 with a double. Starting pitcher, freshman right hander
Daniel Farfan also turned in a quality start, pitching 6.0 innings while allowing three runs (one earned) on just four hits, while striking out four as well.
The Urban Knights will look to even the series with a 4:00 p.m./7:00 p.m. double header on Tuesday, March 15.
