HONOLULU – After taking
game one on Thursday, Academy of Art (9-14, 5-5 PacWest) returned to Hans l'Orange Park looking to take a 2-0 advantage in the series. However, Hawaii Pacific (12-12, 2-10 PacWest) had different plans, producing 11 hits to defeat the Urban Knights 10-2.
Â
Junior right-hander
Luke Lacy lasted 5.0 innings in his sixth start of the season. The Valenica, Calif. native gave up seven runs (six earned) on nine hits during his outing. ART U was unable to recover from the deficit created by the Sharks after they scored in every inning between the fourth and seventh frames.
Â
The Urban Knights were able to avoid being shut out by putting a pair of runs across in the eighth. With the bases loaded and no outs, senior infielder
Erick Luna hit a ground ball to the shortstop which produced a run. After junior outfielder
Kyle McGraw walked on four pitches to load the bases once again, junior catcher
Tyler Harry delivered a single to center field to plate junior outfielder
Evan Ray.
Â
ART U threatened in the ninth, getting a runner into scoring position with two outs. However, they were unable to score the run and Academy of Art fell by a score of 10-2.
Â
With the series now split at one game apiece, Academy of Art will face the Sharks twice in a double header on Saturday that begins at 2:00 p.m. HT.Â
