ART U's hit leader from last season begins 2022 with a four-game hitting streak, as Ruggiero notched a pair of hits in the season opener against Stanislaus State before picking up a hit in each contest of a three-game set against Cal State East Bay. Overall, Ruggiero ended the week 5-for-16 with a run scored, five RBI, a double, a triple, and a pair of stolen bases, as last year's PacWest leader in triples could not wait to add another to his career total (four; tied for seventh most in program history). Meanwhile his bases-clearing double in the series finale against CSUEB drove in what became the winning run in the top of the seventh inning of ART U's first win of the season.
