Women's Soccer Barely Edged Out by Nationally Ranked UCSD

Box Score

La Jolla, Calif. --
On Saturday night, Academy of Art University Women's soccer battled a tough #22 ranked UC San Diego team. Outstanding defense and goal-tending kept the Urban Knights within reach the entire match. Even though the Urban Knights stayed strong the whole game, they ended up dropping the match 1-0.

Stealing the show from the celebrated Seniors of UCSD, the Academy of Art University's defense shined throughout. They were able to keep the UCSD Tritons scoreless in the first half. Despite being outshot 23-4, the Urban Knights only allowed one goal on the night. It came off Triton senior forward Natasha Belak-Berger in the 55th minute of play.

AAU freshman goalie Shelby Magallon again stepped up for her team. She had eight saves during the match. Three Urban Knight freshmen, defender Bailey Bute, midfielder Lauren Johnson, and defender Therasa Sianezeach posted one shot on goal during the game.

After dropping the weekend game, AAU's record falls to 2-11-1 on the season. With only three more games left on the season, the Women are set to take action next on October 29th. They are scheduled to face Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, CA at 1:30 PM.
