Offense Stalls as Urban Knights are Defeated by Wildcats

– The Urban Knights (0-10) dropped their second game of the Falcons Tournament to Central Washington University (6-4) on Wednesday, with a final score of 96-61. Freshman Aaron Aikman scored a team high 10 points for AAU after entering the game with only 29 career points. The 6'8” forward hit 4-of-7 shots and pulled down two rebounds in 19 minutes against the Wildcats.

Despite cutting the Wildcat lead down to one midway through the first half, AAU was never able to gain control of the ball game. The Urban Knights had difficultly shooting the ball as they finished the game hitting 37 percent from the field. The team also struggled from the free throw line hitting only 10-of-24 shots.

A strong point for the Urban Knights was their assists. The team, who is averaging only 10.7 per game, recorded 17 against the Wildcats while seven different Academy of Art University players had five or more points in the game.

After his outstanding game against Seattle Pacific, sophomore Josiah Jungsten had another solid game for AAU recording eight points in 12 minutes on the floor. Center Hunter Hayden led the team with seven rebounds in the game including six on the defensive glass as the sophomore connected on 3-of-9 shots.

Juniors Jonathan Burnett and Lance Olivier each added eight points against the Wildcats. Burnett, who was named to the PacWest Honor Roll earlier this week, also grabbed five rebounds.

The Wildcat pair Shane Miller and Humberto Perez recorded 19 and 18 points respectively, against the Urban Knights as they hit a combined 13-of-19 shots on the floor.

Up next, AAU will return to San Francisco to begin conference play during a four game home stand. On January 5th they will take on University of Hawaii at Hilo at 7:30 p.m. The game will take place at UCSF following the Urban Knights women's game.
