THE WEEK AHEAD:
The Urban Knights picked up their 11th win of the season Wednesday afternoon when they played Notre Dame de Namur in a single game series. Prior to picking up their 11th win of the season the Knights dropped a 0-7 decision to No. 6 nationally ranked Sonoma State University. The Knights hoped to repeat history by knocking off a nationally ranked team, but the sheer pitching power of Sonoma State's Lindsay Emmel proved to be too much for the Urban Knights to handle.
LOOKING BEYOND:
The Knights have just three more match-ups before closing their 2009 season. They take on Holy Names University Sunday April 19, Patten University April 22, and close out the season with Chico State University.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
The Holy Names University Hawks are 19-11 on the season and have won their last eight games. Their last two wins came against Menlo College, a team in which the Urban Knights faced on April 8th splitting the series winning the first game 8-3 and dropping the second game 4-5. Offensively the Hawks are led by Valerie Briones who in 28 games has stepped up to the plate 89 timesand is batting an average of 0.371 and a 0.393 slugging average. Rachel Martinez has a team high 21 RBI's and has a 0.524 slugging average and a .357 batting average. On the mound for the Hawks is Stephani Fairclough, she has pitched 100 innings and has an 1.74 ERA.
SCOUTING THE LADY LIONS
The Patten University Lady Lions are 5-24-1 on the season. Their last two losses came from Holy Names University, a team in which the Urban Knights played April 19 and split the series. Holy Names was able to make easy work of the Lady Lions, winning their series 6-0 and 5-1. AAU hopes to expand their winning streak to three after a pair of games Wednesday evening against host Patten University.
For Patten University Samantha Medeiros and Andrea Varady hold the top spot on the offensive side. Medeiros is batting a .379 and holds a .517 slugging percentage. In 58 at bats she has connected 22 times, has 15 runs and has batted in 4 RBIs. Varady is right behind Medeiros with a .304 Batting average; she also has 21 hits and has 8 RBIs. The Lions have two pitchers that have pitched a total of 22 out of their 24 games combined. Nicole Scott has a 3.48 ERA, has 4 of the Lions five wins and six losses. Tierney Estampa has a 5.38 ERA and has one win on the season and eight losses.

LAST SERIES RECAP: HAWKS
Facing Holy Names University for a Sunday doubleheader, the Academy of Art University softball team earned a split by winning the first game 5-4 and losing the second contest 1-4. The Urban Knights are now 12-28 on the season while the Hawks are 20-12 overall.
