Women's Soccer Drops Game Against Notre Dame De Namur

  In the second game of their home-stand, the Academy of Art University faced bay area rivals Notre Dame De Namur University on Thursday afternoon. The Urban Knights had previously lost a 3-2 double over time game to NDNU just five days earlier. The women were eager for another shot at the Argonauts, but the Argo's offense proved to be too much for the young Urban Knight team. The Academy of Art University ended up losing to the Argonauts with a final score of 3-0.

 Notre Dame De Namur University came out strong and relentless, looking for another win against the Urban Knights. The Argo's scored in the first seven minutes of play, taking control of the game. Despite the valiant efforts from the Urban Knights goal tenders to keep their team in the game; the Knights could not muster up enough defense to match the Argonauts' and they were eventually overpowered. The Argonauts out shot the Academy of Art University 20-8.

 Freshmen Tanner McCandlish and Carmela Doerr had strong offensive games for the Urban Knights. They both had one shot, and one shot on goal in the match. Veronica Gutierrez, Morgan McKnight, and Olivia Dupon each had one shot on goal on the day. Goal keeper Solveig Barnes gave up three goals and had six saves in over 74 minutes of play.

 Lead scorers for the Argonauts' were Sally Olsson who had six shots; three on goal and one goal, and Linzey Harvey had two shots, one on goal and one goal in the game. Jenzia Flores had one shot on goal and scored the last goal of the game for her team. Goal keeper Kelsey Baxter played the whole 90 minutes and posted five saves on the day.

 With the loss the Academy of Art University's record falls to 0-2-1 in conference and 0-7-1 overall, while Notre Dame De Namur University's record improves to 2-0 in conference and 2-4 overall. The Urban Knights play again on Saturday September 26th against Grand Canyon University. Game time is set for 1:00 PM at Boxer Stadium.
