ART U Can't Get Offense Going Against Lancers, Fall 4-0

Riverside, CA -- The Urban Knights had rediscovered their scoring ways after a long drought over the past two weeks, but on a trip down south to California Baptist, the Knights couldn't get their offense going in a 4-0 loss to the Lancers. ART U (4-8, 2-6 PWC) allowed two goals in quick succession in each half, and despite many of their usual suspects getting shots off, couldn't get one to the back of the net against the CBU defense.

The Lancers (8-2-1, 6-1 PWC) got on the board first after an own goal by the Urban Knights in the 12th minute, and in the 19th minute Bernadette Witz fed Kelly Jenks to give CBU a 2-0 lead. The Knights did a good job containing the Lancers dynamic duo of Witz and Jenks, allowing only the one hookup between the two on the goal by Jenks.

The two were tied for the team lead in goals with eight a piece, but the Lancers got contributions from other places in the second half, as Lauren Wallberg scored her first goal of the season in the 66th minute off a cross from Silvia Sanchez. Less than ten minutes later, Sanchez found another one of her teammates, as Natosha Yanes took a shot after the cross in the 75th minute to make it 4-0 Lancers.

The Knights were only able to get five shots off against California Baptist, but will have a chance to get back on track against Dominican next week.
