ON THE APPROACH
The Urban Knights split a pair of games last week against Bay Area opponents, beating out Holy Names in the last ten minutes in a 1-0 contest but falling 3-0 at Dominican University on Sunday. Lou Fillingham had her team-leading fourth goal of the year, while goalkeeper
Rachael Rempe added to her career leading saves record, of which she now has 152 total.
POINT LOMA FINDS STRIDE IN PACWEST
The Sea Lions were 1-3 heading into conference play, but since the PacWest slate started, they are 4-1-1, which places them in a tie for third place in the conference so far. Natalie Swift has 10 points to lead PLNU, scoring four goals and adding two assists, while freshman Dottie Rhoten, who has three goals and two assists, was recently named PacWest Freshman of the Week. Lupe Herrera has allowed under a goal per contest and has played all 923 minutes between the posts.
SECOND HALF STARTERS
Academy of Art has been slow to start this season, scoring six of their eight goals in the second half. They have also taken 20 more shots after halftime, and kicked 10 more corner kicks. In their two wins this year, they came back from down a goal against Simon Fraser to win 2-1 and also broke a tie late against Holy Names last week. With the second half of the season also coming up, look for the Knights to heat up again.
RED STORM ON THE HORIZON
Dixie State is coming off a loss in their last game against UH Hilo in which a penalty kick was the only goal scored in a 1-0 loss for the Red Storm, but they come into San Francisco tied with PLNU for third place with 13 overall points in the standings. ART U will have to contain Kimberly Thurman (4 goals, 2 assists) and Jennifer Mason (3 goals, 3 assists) who have been leading DSU on offense, while Stacie Gubler has taken over in goal and allowed just over one goal a game.Â
HEADED YOUR WAY
After the homestand, the Urban Knights will head to Oakland later that week before taking off to Hawaii to play all four schools, where they swept the road trip to end the season last year.
