WOMEN'S BASKETBALL MAKES FIRST TRIP OUTSIDE US BORDER
A program first comes for Academy of Art University Women's Basketball this week as the Urban Knights travel to Canada for a pair of games against Simon Fraser. Sitting at 2-2 after two close losses as the host in the PacWest/CCAA Challenge just less than two weeks ago, ART U is back in action on Tuesday and Wednesday against a team that reached the "Sweet 16" of last year's NCAA Tournament.
OPENING TIP
The first of back-to-back contests in Burnaby, British Colombia takes place Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 5:15 PM. The following evening, Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 7:00 PM, the two teams play a rematch with both games happening inside the SFU Gym.

KNIGHT WATCH
Now with four players averaging double figures on the offensive side, Academy of Art has shown its convincing ability to score.
Regina Camera has led the way with a 12.8 points and 2.8 3-pointers made per game average followed by
Sha'Nice Storey's 12.0 points per contest. PacWest/CCAA All-Tournament Team
Zoie Sheng has seemingly been everywhere at once, putting up 11.8 points, 5.3 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game. Finally,
Jasmin Guinn is also over the double-digit plateau at 11.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, having matched the offensive rebound mark of the team's rebound leader
Alisa Griggs (8.5 rpg).
CHANGE OF CLANS
Coming off one of the best seasons in program history where Simon Fraser went 25-6 and reached the "Sweet 126" of the NCAA Tournament, the Clan has gone 3-1 here in 2013-14. SFU won eight of nine contests late in the 2012-13 season before falling to the same Western Washington squad who defeated ART U in the opening round. The team offers a different look this season, having graduated three seniors including the NCAA's leader in field goal percentage, and has been ranked fourth in the GNAC pre-season coaches' poll. After being ranked ninth on the USA TODAY Sports Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll at the end of last year, Simon Fraser started tied for 18th in this year's preseason edition, but fell out of the Top 25 in the latest Nov. 19 release with 66 votes in total. The SFU season began with a close 66-64 loss to Cal Poly Pomona which was avenged the following evening when the Clan topped the Broncos 73-64. This past weekend, Simon Fraser put away San Francisco State twice, winning 82-72 and then 72-68 behind a season-best 25 points from Erin Chambers. Chambers has led the team offensively thus far, averaging 21.3 points and nearly three 3-pointers per game in four contests. The squad is supported by key role players such as Marie-Line Petit (4.5 assists per game) and Rebecca Langmead (8.3 points and 10.8 rebounds per game). This will be the first ever meeting of Academy of Art and Simon Fraser.
ART U MOVES TO .500 AFER TOUGH MATCHUPS IN HOME TOURNEY
Much like their first two contests in Oregon, the Urban Knights made yet another late push in their
home debut against Humboldt State, but this time the Lumberjacks refused to relinquish their lead and managed an 87-83 victory in the end. As hosts of the PacWest/CCAA Challenge, the Urban Knights closed the gap on their largest deficit of the season (15 points) with an 13-4 run that included highlights of a career-high 22 points from
Zoie Sheng, but HSU converted five of its final six free throws to seal it.
The following day
versus Cal State East Bay, despite scoring 50 first half points and holding a four-point lead at the break, ART U ended up taking a 91-83 loss at the hands of Cal State East Bay in the finale of the PacWest/CCAA Challenge. Five Urban Knights scored in double figures led by
Sha'Nice Storey's 17 points, but had a difficult time containing the Pioneers who shot over 57 percent from the field.
KNIGHTS CONTINUE TO COLLECT VOTES ON NATIONAL POLL
After receiving votes on the USA TODAY Sports Division II Top 25 women's basketball poll the first seven times it was released last season, Academy of Art University Women's Basketball has now appeared on both the
preseason poll and the first release on
Nov. 19 as determined by the USA Sports board of coaches, 33 members of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
LOOKING AHEAD
The Urban Knights' first three PacWest opponents come to town at the start of December with ART U playing host to Point Loma (Dec. 3), California Baptist (Dec. 5), and Dominican (Dec. 14) at Kezar Pavilion.
