Katie Awerkamp, Head Coach
Awerkamp comes off her debut season with the Urban Knights in 2014 and had previously been part of the women's soccer coaching staff at Quincy University for the past six years. She coached the Lady Hawks to six straight tournament appearances and helped solidify an impressive defense that gave up only nine goals in 2012 while producing a first-team NSCAA All-American goalkeeper. Awerkamp's efforts helped coach six All-Americans and also three straight GLVC Defensive Player of the Year winners. Prior to coaching at Quincy, Awerkamp was the head goalkeeper trainer for the Zionsville Youth Soccer Assocation and Zionsville High School in Indiana after graduating from Saint Joseph's College in 2007. As a student-athlete, Awerkamp finished her career with 297 saves.

Mary Whisler, Assistant CoachWhisler comes off her her first year with ART U after three years as the head women's soccer coach for Owens Community College in Perrysburg, OH. She founded the program in 2011 and coached her way to a 42-12-5 record overall for the Express, who were ranked as high as 14th in the NJCAA poll and 10th in the NSCAA poll. She also coached her team to the NJCAA National Tournament after a 17-2-2 season, and was named 2013 NJCAA Region XII Coach of the Year.  Whisler was a highly decorated player in the NAIA ranks at the University of Saint Francis (Fort Wayne, IN), graduating as a two-time All-American, two time Academic All-American, three-time First Team All Conference selection, two-time First Team All Region selection, and a two-time team captain for the Cougars.

Matt Pereira, Operations Manager/Goalkeeper CoachPereira comes off his first year working with the Academy of Art women's soccer goalkeepers in 2014 and, prior to that, was the goalkeepers coach at NCAA Division III member UC Santa Cruz in 2013. He also trained a number of youth goalkeepers for the Revolution club soccer team in the summer of '13 while working as the junior varsity head coach and varsity goalkeepers coach at Harbor High School in Santa Cruz. Pereira's collegiate playing experience spanned five years at UC Santa Cruz from 2008-09 to 2012-13. He played in 37 matches and totaled 477 minutes minding the net for the Banana Slugs. Pereira collected 85 career saves and posted six career shutouts at UCSC, helping the team post winning records in four of his five seasons there. Pereira started his club coaching experience before becoming an NCAA student-athlete. The summer before his senior year at UC Santa Cruz he also assisted in all-around technical skills at the Catalysts youth soccer camps.Â
