SAN FRANCISCO – The Urban Knights (5-20, 3-16 PacWest) headed into Tuesday's affair with the No. 24 California Baptist Lancers (22-6, 13-5 PacWest) ready for battle, but would ultimately fall 77-69.

Â

In the first half, junior guard
Chris Salas did the heavy lifting for the Urban Knights. During the opening two and a half minutes, the Yorba Linda native scored all of the team's first seven points to match CBU's eight. Salas finished the evening with a team-high 14 points (6-for-11) and six rebounds.
Â
ART U had three other players reach double-digit figures in points including: sophomore guard

Â
As a team, the Urban Knights continued to improve throughout the game. After shooting 44.4 percent from the field in the first half, the Knights posted a 50.0 field goal percentage in the second en route to an overall 47.5 shooting percentage; the team's efficiency was their best of the regular season and highest percentage since defeating SF State in the exhibition tournament Ron Logsdon Basketball Classic on
February 20). ART U also posted more points off of turnovers than the visiting Lancers, scoring 14 points off of 13 CBU turnovers.
Â
The Urban Knights made a run against California Baptist in the closing minutes, cutting the deficit to as little as five points with 34 seconds remaining, but in the end could not prevail.
