PacWest Conference Weekly Awards (Nov. 26)
IRVINE, Calif. – Academy of Art women's basketball freshman guard
Chanel Stuart's hustle was on display once again this past weekend as she was named PacWest Defender of the Week. The award is based on games between Nov. 19-25.
In ART U's lone game of the week versus SF State on
Nov. 25, Stuart had the best defensive game of her collegiate career, logging eight rebounds (six defensive), four blocks, and three steals all while with pouring in 22 points. Stuart helped Academy of Art start a significant comeback with five points plus a steal and a block all in the final minute of the third quarter.
Stuart continues to lead the PacWest in steals per game (4.0) while ranking seventh in all of NCAA Division II in the category. She also has risen to sixth in blocks per game (1.3) and eighth in rebounds per game (8.3).
This is the second PacWest weekly award for Stuart in her career after she was named PacWest Co-Freshman of the Week on
Nov. 12.
