KICKOFF
ART U kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 10:30 a.m. against Dominican and Saturday, Nov. 2 against Fresno Pacific at noon. Academy of Art then starts the following week with a Nov. 5 matchup at Notre Dame de Namur. Remember to follow @ARTU_Knights via the athletics app (Apple App Store,

KNIGHT WATCH
Senior forward
Anissa Wilson scored her 10th goal of the season in ART U's match against Point Loma on
Oct. 19. Wilson buried a penalty kick in the bottom left corner to become the first Urban Knight to ever reach double-digit goals in a single season. Furthermore, her 21 points on 10 goals and one assist are second most in the PacWest and her three game-winning goals lead the PacWest. Sophomore midfielder
Reyna Valencia scored her second goal of the season on
Oct. 22 against Holy Names. The goal was set up by an immaculate ball by freshman defender
Katie Williams. On a free kick from nearly mid-field, Williams played in the lob beautifully, just outside the goal box. Valencia battled defenders and put a head on it, driving the ball to the bottom left corner of the net to give the Urban Knights a 1-0 advantage and Williams' the first assist of her career. Sophomore forward
Brooklyn Morera remains in second in points for ART U with three goals and four assists totaling 10 points and junior midfielder
Sydney Cooke is third, with nine points on three goals and three assists.
DOMINICAN PENGUINS
Dominican enters their match with Academy of Art with an overall record of 3-4-6 and a conference record of 0-3-3, totaling three points. The Penguins take on ART U immediately after returning from their Hawaii trip in which they went 0-1-2. DUC tied Chaminade and UH Hilo 0-0 before ending their island tour with a 3-1 loss to Hawaii Pacific. The Penguins started PacWest play with a 1-3 loss to Point Loma before tying Fresno Pacific 0-0 and falling to Biola 1-0. All three of DUC's wins came in non-conference. In their season opener they defeated Menlo 3-0. Three days later, the Penguins took down Saint Martin's 1-0 for a two match winning streak to start the year. A 1-0 loss to Chico State snapped the streak. DUC went on to tie the next three matches 0-0 before winning their final non-conference match versus William Jessup 3-1. Tanya Bills leads the Penguins in points with two goals and one assist for five points, but the true strength of DUC comes from their defense led by goalkeeper Alyssa Ramos. Ramos leads the PacWest in a variety of statistical categories including shutouts (7), goals against average (.407), and saves (55). Academy of Art is 5-8-3 all-time against DUC, and
won the most recent meeting 1-0 last season.
FRESNO PACIFIC SUNBIRDS
Fresno Pacific comes into their match with ART U with an overall record of 2-9-2 and a conference record of 2-3-2 for a total of eight points. A rigorous non-conference schedule saw the Sunbirds face two top-25 ranked teams, Stanislaus State and Chico State, both of whom they lost to. In fact, FPU did not win a single non-conference match. They tied their first two PacWest matches, 2-2 versus Concordia and 0-0 against Dominican. FPU's first win of the season finally came on Oct. 14 when they took down Chaminade 1-0. A three match losing streak followed, forced by Hawaii Pacific, Uh Hilo, and Point Loma before the Sunbirds defeated Notre Dame de Namur 2-0 in their most recent match for their second win of the season. The offense is led by Tori De Leon, who has six points on two goals and two assists and Mackenzie Reynolds with five points on two goals and one assist. FPU is 7-0-1 all-time against ART U and won their meeting last season 1-0.
NOTRE DAME DE NAMUR ARGONAUTS
One must go back to Oct. 4 to find Notre Dame de Namur's last victory (a 2-0 result over Hawaii Pacific) as the Argos have lost four of five with one tie coming into the Nov. 5 matchup with Academy of Art. When NDNU and ART U last met on Sept. 27, two overtime periods were needed to eventually settle a 2-1 win for the Argos and it was Samantha Sanchez (fifth in the PacWest with 2.92 shots per match) who had the game-winning score. Susan Whitney's five goals are tied for the sixth-most in the conference. The Urban Knights' historical matchup favors Notre Dame de Namur 14-1 with two ties.
ART U BATTLES HOLY NAMES TO 1-1 TIE
Both ART U and Holy Names scored within three minutes of one another in the first half, then battled through more than 80 minutes of scoreless action before
ending in a 1-1 tie in Tuesday morning's Bay Area showdown at Paul Goode Field.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Urban Knights will play their final home match of the season on senior day, Nov. 2, against Fresno Pacific at CCSF Soccer Field. After FPU, Academy of Art will travel to Hawaii for a three match roadtrip to conclude their 2019 season.
