SAN FRANCISCO – Playing its second home match in less than 24 hours, Academy of Art volleyball fell to Biola 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-15) on Saturday afternoon. The Urban Knights were competitive in each set, but the Eagles used runs midway through the frames to earn the Pacific West Conference victory.
ART U worked its way back from an early 7-3 deficit with kills from junior middle blocker
Carly Evetts. Then it was a 5-2 push highlighted by offense from junior middle blocker
Sadie Emery made it a one-point contest at 12-11. Â The Eagles, however, proceeded to score the next six straight and that margin would hold the rest of the way to 25-18.
From 9-9 in the second set, Biola jumped ahead 14-9, but a pair of kills off the hand of junior outside hitter
Ashley Pawlak brought Academy of Art quickly back. Late in the frame, the Knights found themselves right in it, trailing only by two at 23-21, but the teams wound up trading points to a 25-22 win for the visitors.
Like the set prior, the third frame saw the teams knotted at 10-10 before two 5-0 runs gave BU the separation it needed to eventually take a 25-15 result and the match victory.

ART U moves to 3-6 on the season and 1-1 in conference with the day's result. Both Pawlak and Evetts led the way with 10 kills apiece while Reinhold finished with 29 assists for the second consecutive match. Junior outside hitter
Mariana Figueroa Ferriera totaled a team-high 12 digs and added three service aces.
A successful Northern California roadtrip evens Biola's record at 5-5 in addition to making them 2-0 in PacWest play. Just one Eagle registered double-digit kills and it was Sabrina Winslow's 11 that led a very balanced BU attack.
Academy of Art will move into the third part of its eight-match homestand next week with its "Dig Pink Night" against Notre Dame de Namur on Wednesday, Sept. 25 back inside Kezar Pavilion. Fans in attendance will receive exclusive pink t-shirts as the Urban Knights promote breast cancer awareness.
