2021 D2CCA All-West Region Teams
FRESNO, Calif. – Helping lead ART U to its first ever postseason appearance by pacing the team in a host of offensive statistical categories, Academy of Art baseball junior outfielder
Ty Conrad earned his second postseason award, being named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-West Region Second Team on Wednesday. It is the first time receiving the honor in his career.Â
Planted firmly in the No. 3 spot in the heart of the Urban Knights lineup en route to a Pacific West Conference Northern California Pod title, Conrad ended his season in the top-10 of the PacWest in four different categories, including runs scored (6th, 35), hits (t-3rd, 46), and runs batted in (8th, 33). Meanwhile, his .338 average was the best on ART U, and he led in the team in home runs (t-1st, 4), slugging percentage (1st, .493), and OPS (1st, .910). OnÂ
Mar. 13 in a 17-4 win over HNU, Conrad was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and five RBI with a towering three-run home run in the eighth inning, putting the finishing touches on ART U's largest run total in a single game this season and tied for theÂ
second-most runs scored in ART U history (also:Â
Feb. 9, 2020 vs CWU). No slouch with the glove, Conrad also had 57 putouts and three assists for a .952 fielding percentage.Â
Proving his value in the PacWest AQ Pod Series, Conrad was a key cog in the offense by going a combined 4-for-14 (.286) with five runs scored, three RBI, and a home run. He hadÂ
back-to-back two-hit games in the pair of meetings with UH Hilo, andÂ
he was the driving force in the rematch against the Vulcans by going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI and the homerÂ
during the second day of the series.Â
While it is just the second time in ART U history that an Urban Knight has received this honor, the two awards have come in consecutive seasons, as
Thomas Delgadillo was
the first to earn the honor in 2019 (no awards given in 2020).Â
