PacWest Weekly Awards (Sept. 27)
IRVINE, Calif. – For the second time this season, the Pacific West Conference has honored Academy of Art women's soccer sophomore goalkeeper
Nicole Peoples as the PacWest Defender of the Week, this time coming after a combined 11 saves in a pair of shutout efforts. The award is for matches played from Sept. 20-26.
In the week's first match, Peoples was called upon early and often, coming up
with eight saves in what would wind up
a scoreless draw with Simpson that ended after 90 minutes. Two days later, Peoples would secure the first win of her career thanks to a
1-0 shutout win over Holy Names in non-conference action,
making a trio of stops in her third shutout of the season of the campaign, already tying her for second most in a single season in program history. It has been nearly four full matches since Peoples has allowed a goal, as she has made 33 consecutive saves on 73 shots faced dating back to the opening contest of the season.
Twice this season has an Urban Knight won the PacWest Defender of the Week award, with both belonging to Peoples, as she previously received the honor on
Sept. 13. Peoples is the first player and goalkeeper in ART U program history to earn the honor twice.
