SAN FRANCISCO – Academy of Art volleyball Head Coach
Breann Robinson and her staff have announced the addition of outside hitter/right side Maya McClellan (San Carlos, Calif./Eastern Washington) to the team's fall roster, further bolstering the squad's already formidable attack.
"We're very excited for Maya to join us this fall," Robinson said. "She has experience competing at a high level in a few tough conferences that I believe will translate over to the PacWest well. She is extremely competitive and has a contagious energy in the gym that our staff is excited to work with. Her competitive maturity, coupled with her physicality and experience, make her an immediate threat for teams across the net."
A Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week once and Fall Big Sky All-Academic Team while at Eastern Washington, McClellan averaged 2.57 kills per set over 39 total matches in two years (19 or more in five of those outings) and led the team with 3.07 points per set most recently in 2021. She previously spent two seasons at Nevada with one being a redshirt year.
Prior to Nevada, McClellan was a member of the Carlmont High School varsity volleyball team for four years, averaging 4.4 kills and 2.6 digs per set across her junior and senior seasons. Outside of her time with the Scots, she competed for Encore Volleyball Club, earning an All-League First Team and Junior Nationals U16 All-Tournament Team selections in 2016 after attending the USA Volleyball High Performance A1 Holiday Camp in 2015.
McClellan will begin in the Academy of Art School of Interior Architecture & Design this fall as she pursues her goal of becoming an interior designer.
