SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Academy of Art men's soccer dropped a 5-1 decision against the Dominican Penguins in a Pacific West Conference matchup highlighted by a new program record on Saturday at Kennelly Field. 

Senior midfielder/forward Gilly Miller notched his 11th point of his 2023 season, bringing his career total up to 48, which now leads ART U men's soccer players in individual points scored in program history. The point that put Miller over the edge was an assist off of a free kick, sending in a low through-ball into the box past the wall of Penguin defenders, finding redshirt sophomore midfielder Elvis Mensah all alone as he struck the ball low right towards the post.

The Urban Knights' goal came in the 54th minute and brought ART U back within two scores, as the Penguins previously scored three in the first half, with two from Diego Grande and one from Joe Blakely. The Urban Knights would get five more shots off in the second half from four different members of ART U, but none found the back of the net with the Penguins' goalkeeper playing tight defense and recording four saves in this process.

Dominican would tack on another two scores before the end of the match, with both being netted by Grande, giving him four total on the day as Lex Bernier recorded two assists to the midfielder.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jaiden Brooks added to his saves total on the year, as he collected seven in the match, and remains ranked among the top PacWest goalkeepers in saves per game (third place).

ART U will take a week break before taking their final trip of the season as they head down to Southern California to take on the trio of Westmont, Point Loma, and Biola all starting on Monday, Oct. 30 with a kickoff slated for 12:30 pm against the Warriors.
