McInerney, Rupertova Named CSC Academic All-District

2023 CSC Academic All-District Volleyball Teams

Amalie RupertovaGREENWOOD, Ind. – Exemplifying the pairing of "student" and "athlete," Academy of Art volleyball graduate student outside hitter Amalie Rupertova and junior setter Elly McInerney's combination of academic and athletic success was recognized in Tuesday's announcement of the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team selections.

The 2023 Academic All-District volleyball teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Following up on her undergraduate 4.00 grade point average from North Carolina A&T State, Rupertova served as one of ART U's top dual threats while working toward on a 3.68 cumulative GPA as a master's student in the School of Industrial Design. The native of Tlucen, Czech Republic ranked fourth in the Pacific West Conference in service aces (0.40), ninth in kills (2.67), and was 10th in points per set (3.25). Rupertova added 2.72 digs and 0.32 blocks per set as well. Delivering at least one service ace in all but seven of her 27 matches played, she tied the program's single-season record with 42 aces on the year.

Elly McInerneyAn All-PacWest Second Team and Academic All-PacWest Team recipient in 2022, Rupertova finished the year with 11 double-doubles with two of those, which came in wins over Western New Mexico on Sept. 2 and Hawaii Pacific on Oct. 4) featuring her season-high of 19 digs. She put away a season-best 20 kills against Fresno Pacific on Sept. 27 and amassed her highest service ace total (5) versus Azusa Pacific on Sept. 14. Rupertova ended her collegiate career among Academy of Art's top 10 in career kills (332) and service aces (68).

Helping orchestrate an offense that put up over 1,180 kills in 2023, McInerney also excelled in the classroom, contributing to a 3.62 cumulative GPA in the School of Communications & Media Technologies. The native of Melbourne, Australia was part of a two-setter system and still ranked third in the PacWest in assists per set (5.73) while totaling the eighth-most service aces (35) in ART U single-season history.

On the Academic All-PacWest Team like Rupertova, McInerney posted five double-doubles in 2023. She logged 20 or more assists on 17 occasions, topping out at a season-high 44 versus Westmont on Sept. 23. Meanwhile her season-best 14 digs came against Stanislaus State on Sept. 1 and her two highs of four service aces were both in conference play (Biola on Sept. 22, UH Hilo on Oct. 7). McInerney wrapped up her junior year ranked fourth in career assists (1,261) for Academy of Art.

These are the first CSC Academic All-District honors for Rupertova and McInerney in their respective careers.
