AZUSA, Calif. – In action for the fourth time in five days down in Southern California, Academy of Art women's tennis challenged No. 1 Barry and was able to capture a victory in singles play despite the 4-1 defeat back at Azusa Pacific's Munson & Bavougian Tennis Complex on Tuesday.

The Buccaneers (9-0) opened the morning's matchup with two strong wins for the doubles point while a competitive pairing court three was left unfinished. Barry made it a 2-0 lead with the first singles victory, but sophomore Paulina Alvarez put the Urban Knights (4-4) on the scoreboard with a 6-3, 6-1 result over Nathalia Gasparin, one of her opponents in doubles, on the sixth court. The neutral site contest was won by BU on the second and fourth singles courts though ART U pushed multiple 7-5 sets and the remaining battles were not completed despite sophomore Julia Ortega beginning a comeback in the second set versus Faniela Farfan.

With its next match now 12 days away, Academy of Art will prepare to return to action on Mar. 19 in Fresno for a neutral site contest against Colorado Mesa.
