ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – Once more inside The Wolves' Den of Sonoma State on Friday, Academy of Art volleyball concluded the Seawolves Volleyball Classic by executing an impressive run late in the first set that could have resulted in different early momentum, but Cal State Dominguez Hills ended up countering for the 3-0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-16) victory in the end.

Chandra Reed combined on a block, Rupertova delivered two service aces, Martin sent down a kill, and McClellan provided a solo block all to bring the Urban Knights to set point at 24-23. CSUDH, however, answered with three straight kills to take the opening set 26-24.
Academy of Art responded with comebacks each of the first two times Cal State Dominguez Hills tried to create separation in the second frame, but an 8-2 push thereafter proved to be to great of a margin. Freshman middle blocker/outside hitter
Alohi Garcia connected on two kills while ART U fought to shorten the gap yet a 25-19 final put the Toros in front by another set.
CSUDH continued to ride its momentum, building a 13-7 advantage to begin the third frame after which the sides briefly traded points. The Toros would lead by as many as 10 en route to their 25-16 victory to finish off the match.
Now 1-6 overall, Academy of Art had McClellan record her fourth double-double (12 kills, 10 digs) of the year while Rupertova contributed nine kills and seven digs. Junior setter
Elly McInerney made it six of seven matches with 20 or more assists, producing her second-highest total of the season with 28 on Thursday.
Cal State Dominguez Hills improves to 4-2 overall with Ava Hurry's 10 kills and 10 digs, Bailey Fuches' 23 assists and 12 digs, and Jesi Diekmann's five blocks all leading the way.
Next up for ART U will be Pacific West Conference play as a three-part road trip starts things off with Biola (Sept. 13), Azusa Pacific (Sept. 14), and Point Loma (Sept. 16) awaiting in Southern California.
