2024 Brutus Hamilton Invitational Results
BERKELEY, Calif. – Academy of Art track & field walked away from Brutus Hamilton Invitational with multiple Urban Knights simultaneously achieving new personal records and moving up in the national rankings all inside Cal's Edwards Stadium on Saturday.

A truly impressive best for
Katharina Goetschl came in the 5000m to start the day as the native of Oberndorf an der Melk, Austria not only dominated the 10-runner field by nearly a full minute, but her time of 16:40.54 across the finish line started her at seventh in NCAA Division II this season. Goetschl's first 5000m race since last year's Pacific West Conference Championships made her an Outdoor Nationals provisional qualifier and third in ART U history.
Entering the day among the country's top 10 in the long jump,
Marie-Jeanne Ourega elevated her position significantly as she emerged with a first-place result in the event on Saturday. The Communications & Media Technologies major bettered 17 other predominantly NCAA DI jumpers on her fifth attempt at 20-2.5 (6.16m), joining just seven others in NCAA DII to surpass 20 feet. Ourega slots into fourth in the country with her second Outdoor Nationals provisional qualification in as many meets.
Yacouba Gnacko, fresh off being named
PacWest Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, put ultimately himself into the final with a 23-9.5 (7.25m) on his second attempt before saving a new personal record of 24-9.75 (7.56m) for his fifth attempt. The mark took him to second of 30 overall on the day (between competitors from NCAA DI Cal and Washington), tied for eighth in NCAA DII as an Outdoor Nationals provisional qualifier, and ever closer to the third-farthest jump in program history.
The combination of
Toni-Ann Lindsay,
Juvonna Cornette,
Alicia Thomas, and
Lauryn James continued to improve ART U's time in the 4x100m relay, posting a new season-best of 45.43 while taking fourth overall behind only NCAA DI San Jose State plus two teams from Oregon. Academy of Art remains fifth in the country as Outdoor Nationals provisional qualifiers.
Individually, Lindsay also authored a new season best of 11.81 in the 100m dash, putting her into a tie for 30th in the nation with her first Outdoor Nationals provisional qualification in the event.
Next making their second trip to Southern California, the Urban Knights will debut at the Cal State LA Twilight Open on Apr. 11 while also contesting events in three days of Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational (Apr. 11-13).
