First Half Goals Too Much In Knights' Trip To FPU

Box Score FRESNO, Calif. – In their first away match of the 2024 campaign, Academy of Art women's soccer saw Fresno Pacific walk away as 2-0 victors at Ramirez Field on Saturday evening.

Although graduate student goalkeeper Nicole Peoples came away with three saves in the opening frame, FPU managed to get two scores to strike the net. In the 22nd minute, the Sunbirds scored their first goal off a corner kick sent in by Nadia Flores that squeaked through the defense and towards the back post, where Maria Eir Magnusdottir waited to shoot the tap-in. Maria Garcia put the Sunbirds up two in the 33rd minute after finding the ball in the middle of the box and scoring it bottom-left off her first touch.

Sophomore forward Jade Alverio and sophomore forward/defender Alanna Del Carlo were the two shot takers for ART U, with the latter's strike being the Urban Knights' closest chance at a score with her attempt in the 27th minute. Peoples allowed no additional scores for the opponent in the second half of action as she matched her first half save count, and collected six saves total throughout the contest.

The Knights will next return home to SF Glens at Treasure Island Field for a non-conference matchup hosting Jessup on Sept. 25 with a 1:30 p.m. start.
