Following a busy month of March, Academy of Art softball zeroes in on the first of three more Pacific West Conference series this regular season as the Urban Knights remain local for a four-game series at Menlo.

KNIGHT WATCH

No ART U hitter has been more on fire recently than junior infielder
Audrey Allen. Currently sporting a nine-game hit streak, the Interior Architecture & Design major has hit .461 since Mar. 16 with nine doubles, seven runs scored, and seven runs batted in during that span to give her a .347 batting average (16th in PacWest), 13 doubles (fourth in PacWest, seven from the ART U single-season record), two home runs, 18 runs batted in, and 17 runs scored on the season. In her career, Allen's 33 doubles are tied for fifth-most in program history (nine from the record). Eight extra-base hits (six doubles, two home runs) for senior catcher/infielder
Liberty Herrera and seven extra-base hits (six doubles, one home run) for sophomore outfielder
Ari Mallari are the next most on the team with Herrera adding 15 driven in and Mallari having touched home plate 15 times thus far.
Junior pitcher
Kamielle Powell (2-18) ranks second in the PacWest with 125.0 innings pitched over which she has recorded 50 strikeouts (sixth in PacWest) and a 3.42 earned run average. Now with 325.1 innings in the circle over the course of her career, Powell is up to fifth in Academy of Art history and one of eight Urban Knights with over 100 career strikeouts alongside sophomore pitcher/utility
Kayla Vaughan (4-14) who has 145 punchouts (seventh in ART U history) in less than two seasons.
AMONG THE OAKS
Ninth in the PacWest standings, Menlo dropped 18 of its first 19 games before winning each of its series with Hawaii Pacific, Chaminade, and UH Hilo. The Oaks have since dropped eight consecutive contests including doubleheaders with Dominican, Stanislaus State, and Jessup. Menlo is led by Grace Christian's .370 batting average (11th in PacWest) as well as Destanee Perez (3-10) with her 5.48 ERA over 94.0 innings pitched (10th in PacWest). Over the past two years, the historical matchup between the Knights and Oaks has favored the former 4-2.
ALLEN's HOT BAT SWINGS EARLY LEAD, APU RESPONDS AMID RAIN
Academy of Art softball rallied for an advantage two innings into the
Apr. 3 Pacific West Conference series finale at Cougar Softball Field, but Azusa Pacific came back with steady offense on both sides of a 50-minute rain delay to secure the 7-2 victory.
ON THE HORIZON
In action at Mission Blue Field for the first time in April, ART U next begins a home/away series with Jessup that opens in Brisbane on Apr. 18 and finishes in Lincoln on Apr. 19.
