Lindsey Foster

Lindsey Foster began as Academy of Art University women's basketball head coach in June 2022.

In Foster's debut season, the Urban Knights were able to sweep multiple Pacific West Conference opponents, set new records, and produce a D2CCA All-West Region Second Team and All-PacWest First Team honoree in Alisha Wilson. Highlighting the year was a Feb.4 victory over Biola that saw ART U allow the fewest points in a single quarter in program history (4) as well as seven PacWest weekly awards for Wilson to also set a new record. Along the way, Wilson broke the program's career double-doubles record after she amassed 17 during the season and finished as the NCAA Division II leader in offensive rebounds per game (5.7) while also tying for the nation's highest rebounds per game average (14.8) and ranking eighth in double-doubles. In the classroom, the Knights excelled as well with six named to the Academic All-PacWest Team.

After finishing her third year at Sonoma State in 2022, Foster brings more than five seasons of coaching experience into her role at ART U. Beginning with the Seawolves’ 2019-20 season, Foster progressed from the lead assistant to associate head coach with the women’s basketball staff. SSU would go 15-13 overall in Foster’s debut campaign and made the conference tournament led by Kylie Kiech and CCAA Defensive Player of the Year Ugochi Anudokem, both 1,000-point scorers for Sonoma State in their collegiate careers. Returning to play after the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the 2020-21 season, the Seawolves once again reached the CCAA Tournament in 2021-22.

Prior to SSU, Foster served as an assistant coach for Saint Martin’s women’s basketball from 2017 to 2019. She helped mentor the team’s leading scorer and 2017-18 GNAC Freshman of the Year in Saniah Simpson-Patu. The following year in 2018-19, Foster had the opportunity to coach yet another GNAC Freshman of the Year in Claire Dingus who paced the Saints in points, rebounding, and steals per game.

The start of Foster’s coaching career was on the sidelines as a volunteer assistant for Gonzaga women's basketball from 2015-2017. Contributing to two strong seasons for the Bulldogs, she was part of the WCC Conference Championship team in 2017, a year that saw Gonzaga appear in the NCAA Tournament before finishing 26-7 overall.

Foster, a collegiate women's basketball student-athlete herself, played for Notre Dame de Namur for two seasons before transferring to the University of La Verne for her final two years of her career. There, Foster was named to the First Team All-SCIAC and was a team captain during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. Foster also competed in both the long and triple jumps as part of La Verne’s track & field team. Foster would graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations.
