The Urban Knights took two of three at the PacWest Conference Championships last weekend to finish in third place overall, and right in the middle of it was the sole ART U senior, Daniela Amelunge Antelo. A leader on and off the court over her career with the Knights, Amelunge Antelo won some important points during the tournament on the way to her 15-2 singles record. She won the fourth point against Point Loma Nazarene University in the opening round, was tied when the dust settled against BYU-Hawaii, and then won another decisive fourth point over Azusa Pacific in the third place match. She also won both of her doubles matches, paired with Nina Gajdosikova, against PLNU and APU on the way to victory.
Amelunge Antelo ranks second all-time in doubles victories (40) and fourth in singles wins (33). Her 15-2 record in 2014 led to an .882 winning percentage, the third best mark of all time, while her 20 doubles wins in 2013 rank the second most by an Urban Knight. She has also demonstrated her skills in the classroom, as she was recently crowned the winner of a class-wide competition for Interior Architecture and Design, resulting in an amazing opportunity to be on site when her proposed project is under construction.
