Guiding Academy of Art University Women's Basketball to two wins in Hawaii while averaging a double-double, junior guard Jasmin Guinn was named
Pacific West Conference Player of the Week for her efforts.
Guinn opened the trip in dramatic style with a career-high 28 points, nine rebounds, and four steals against UH Hilo on
Feb. 24. She went 10-for-22 from the field, hit two 3-pointers, and made six free throws in seven attempts all while leading a defensive charge that held the Vulcans to just 32.8 percent shooting from the floor. The win was particularly significant as it secured Academy of Art University a spot in the PacWest Conference Championship Tournament. Two nights later on
Feb. 26 at BYU-Hawaii, Guinn scored a game-high 23 points, grabbed nine rebounds once again, and three assists, becoming the program's all-time rebounds leader with that performance.
Although the Urban Knights did not win that game, they came roaring back in the regular season finale against Chaminade on
Feb. 28. Guinn was at it again, logging her third double-double of the season with 21 points (another game-high) and 12 rebounds. She was a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line and added three steals as ART U earned its 18th win of the year.
