Atherton, CA - The Academy of Art University women's volleyball team swept aside Menlo College in their home-opener, winning in three games 25-19, 25-19, 25-14, in front of a raucous crowd at Haynes-Prim Pavilion in non-conference action.

The Oaks were no match for the Urban Knights size at the net, trailing nearly the entire match. Dan Yang (Beijing, China) finished with 13 kills for Academy of Art while Levalasi Tupou (Citrus Heights,Ca) and KaUwila Lavea (Waikoloa, Hawaii) scored nine and seven, respectively.

Stephanie Williamson had 33 assists for the Oaks who finished with just 25 kills to the Urban Knights 41. Deborah Bekowies and Sarah Poole finished with eight and seven kills, respectively, for the Oaks.

The Academy of Art (5-3) plays their first home match against Holy Names University on Saturday at 3 p.m.
