Freshman Edward Kibet wins 2nd straight race

AAU men come in 2nd overall

Seattle, WA-- The Academy of Art University's men's cross country team was a force to be reckoned with last weekend as they participated in the Sundodger Invitational hosted by the University of Washington.

Freshman Edward Kibet was the fastest man of the day running 8k in 24:45 beating out St. Martin University's John Riak by 4 seconds.

Kibet, originally from Kapasabet, Kenya, is a talented and very valuable assets to this young Urban Knights team. Only a freshman Kibet has already won the first two invitationals they have competed in. This is no easy feat as they have faced tough competitors from schools like Stanford University, UC Berkeley, and University of San Francisco to name a few.

Amos Moru finished fourth with a time of 24:56. Daveson Marinchich, took 16th and the Urban Knights placed 6 runners in the top-50, leading them to a second place finish with 72 total points. Southern Oregon finished ahead of the Knight with 51 points, and finishing third was Simon Fraser University with 81 point.

On the women's side, Irineli Zzmfir (Sucrea, Romania) was the fastest woman for the Urban Knights finishing with a time of 23:14 and landing her in 26th place while Brianna Schmid  finished with a time of 25:35 and Martha Cherop Bore finished with a time of 26:06.
