Game Notes

HAWAII ROADTRIP:
After completing its seven-match homestand, AAU men's soccer now leaves the mainland to rematch BYU-Hawaii and Chaminade as well as face University of Hawaii-Hilo in the team's next week of action.

OPENING KICKOFF:
The Urban Knights will begin with a match against BYU-Hawaii on Oct. 26 at the BYU-H Soccer Field starting at 3:30 HST. Chaminade is up next for Academy of Art on Oct. 28 at St. Louis Field with kickoff set for 12:00 PM HST. Finally, AAU faces Hawaii-Hilo on Oct. 30 at Kea'au High School at 12:00 PM HST.

SCOUTING THE SEASIDERS:
After going 1-3 to start the conference season, Brigham Young UniversityHawaii has won three of its last four matches. Forward Sam Akinaka, who scored in the only goal in a Seasiders victory when BYU-H and AAU met back on Oct. 10, leads the team in goals (5) with forward Chris Wood and his four goals not far behind. Goalkeeper Cory Cosgrave continues to play every minute of every match for BYU-Hawaii and has 61 saves as well as 20 goals allowed to show for it.

SCOUTING THE SILVERSWORDS:
The only PacWest victory for Chaminade University came against Academy of Art back on Oct. 12 in a match where the Knights scored their two goals at the beginning and end of the contest. Forward Keenan Ho had one goal and one assist in the 4-2 win, but it is forward Charles Thompson who continues to lead the team with four total goals. Between the pipes for CUH is goalie Darren Smith who has 47 saves along with 24 goals allowed.

SCOUTING THE VULCANS:
Since Hawaii-Hilo began conference play with three consecutive victories,
the Vulcans have bounced back and forth from win to loss. The Vulcans' last two defeats came at the hands of NDNU whom AAU also struggled with this season. UHH is paced offensively by six goals from forward Logan Montenegro and five from forward Eduardo Gutierrez. Goalkeeper Ivan Mercado has been primarily responsible for the Vulcan defense with his 55 saves and 18 goals allowed.

KNIGHTS FALL TO PENGUINS FOR SECOND TIME THIS SEASON:

The final home match for Academy of Art was a difficult one to swallow as the Urban Knights were bested by Dominican University 2-0. Although AAU outshot the Penguins 12-6 overall in the match and kept them scoreless through the first 45 minutes, DUC scored two goals in a 20 minute span in the second half to take the win.

MOVING FORWARD:
AAU closes out the season with a pair of road rematches against Dixie State (Nov. 5) and Grand Canyon (Nov. 7).
