2009 OSU Cowboy Jamboree Men's Team & Individual Results
Stillwater, OK -- At Oklahoma State's 73rd Annual Cowboy Jamboree, the Academy of Art University men's cross country team finished 16th overall with sophomore Amos Maru leading the way as he has done all season. Maru took 34th place in a 25-team field that featured Northern Arizona, Adams State, William & Mary at the OSU Cross Country Course.
Maru, who completed the 8k course with a time of 24:59.70, finished first amongst Urban Knights runners for the fourth consecutive occasion this season. He was followed by sophomore Daveson Marindich who captured 67th place with his time of 25:49. The third slot for AAU went to junior Geoffrey Cheruiyot who came in 108th overall (26:45.70). Sophomores Simon Mutai and Mark Bretan rounded out the fourth and fifth places with 130th (27:26.80) and 135th (27:33.60) respectively.
As a team, Academy of Art was 16th out of 25 competitors and Knights runners crossed the finish line with an average time of 26:30.96. AAU had 474 points in total to best schools such as Arkansas Pine Bluff, Pitt State, and University of San Diego.
Northern Arizona won the meet with 52 points to beat out William & Mary's 59-point total. Amongst individual results, the race was won by Jordan Chipangama from Northern Arizona.
Academy of Art University returns to San Francisco for its next meet on Oct. 9 when the Knights will compete in the SF State Invitational.
