Game Notes

PACWEST REMATCHES NEXT AS KNIGHTS ENTER HOME STRETCH

Just four matches remain in the Academy of Art University men's soccer 2010 campaign. Following an 11-day period between games, the Urban Knights now focus their attention on Grand Canyon this Thursday and Dominican this Saturday. Both teams have faced ART U earlier this season in San Francisco.

OPENING KICKOFF *TIME/VENUE CHANGE*

ART U hosts Grand Canyon at Treasure Island (Avenue H & 11th Street) this Thursday, Oct. 28 for an 11:00 AM kickoff. The game will no longer be played at Boxer Stadium. Then on Friday, Oct. 30, the Academy of Art University and Dominican will be in action at Forest Meadows Field starting at 12:00 PM. Live score updates for GCU match can be found on the Academy of Art University Athletics Twitter while the DUC match will be followed via the Dominican Athletics Twitter as well as ART U's Twitter.

KNIGHT WATCH
With a goal in each of its last five matches, ART U now has seven different Knights with at least one goal this season. Junior forward Andrew "Boomer" Cruz paces the squad with eight goals followed by freshman forward Grimur Grimsson (3) and junior midfielder Richard Luna (2). Assist number six came for freshman midfielder Andrew Durano in Academy of Art University's non-conference match versus La Sierra on Oct. 17. Behind Durano, Luna and freshman forward Patrick Heinemann each have three assists. In eight starts, sophomore goalkeeper Ian Sutherland has 28 saves and nine goals allowed.

SCOUTING THE ANTELOPES
If not for a 2-0 loss to Hawaii Pacific on Oct. 6, Grand Canyon would be perfect in 2010. The 'Lopes came out of the PacWest Conference gate strong with five consecutive shutouts and 19 goals scored in that span. Though they have slowed from that incredible pace, GCU most recently swept Dixie State in back-to-back shutouts. When the 'Lopes faced ART U back on Sept. 18, PacWest leading goal-scorer Kyle Ciliento netted a pair in the Grand Canyon victory. Defensively, goalkeeper Ben Panecassio has amassed 29 saves to go with 11 goals allowed and 1,280 minutes in goal.

SCOUTING THE PENGUINS
Dominican's most recent matches in Hawaii have been nothing short of intense with the last four all requiring overtime. Of those four, three went into double OT and two resulted in ties. DUC returns to San Rafael, CA this week after going 1-1-2 on the islands and falling to Hawaii Pacific 2-1 in the last match. The Penguins reside just behind the Knights in the current PacWest standings as ART U holds the edge with four wins. Led offensively by forward Pedro Guevara, who scored a pair of goals versus Academy of Art on Oct. 7, Dominican also has goalkeeper Matthew Carlson likely to start his 16th consecutive match on Saturday. Carlson has totaled 79 saves with 29 goals allowed in just over 1,425 minutes.

THE WEEK THAT WAS
Stepping outside of conference play for its lone match in a 17-day span, ART U faced La Sierra on Oct. 17. The teams battled through a wet and cold day at Kimbell Field in San Francisco with the Golden Eagles taking a 2-0 lead late in the opening period. Seconds after LSU's goal in the 40th minute, Academy of Art University responded. The Knights dominated in the second half, outshooting La Sierra 12-4, but the Golden Eagles managed to score once more in the 81st minute to pull away late.

MOVING FORWARD
When October comes to an end, Academy of Art University will be looking at two final PacWest matchups. ART U travels slightly south for a rematch with NDNU on Nov. 4 before returning home to Boxer Stadium for the season finale. Wrapping up the 2010 campaign on Nov. 6, Dixie State will be in town to take on the Knights.
