Game Notes

YEAR CONCLUDES WITH LOCAL PACWEST MATCHUPS
Riding the momentum of a 3-2 double overtime victory over Dominican last Saturday, ART U men's soccer is poised for a finish the year on a high note. Academy of Art University begins with a road match at Notre Dame de Namur on Nov. 4 and then plays its season finale against Dixie State on Nov. 6.

OPENING KICKOFF
The Knights make one final trip away from home to Belmont, CA for a matchup against NDNU on Thursday, Nov. 4. Kickoff for that game is set for 1:00 PM at Koret Field. Then on Saturday, Nov. 6, the men's soccer season wraps up with a pairing versus Dixie State College at Boxer Stadium. The match is scheduled for 10:30 AM following the women's game prior. Live score updates for all home matches can be found on the Academy of Art University Athletics Twitter.

KNIGHT WATCH
In ART U's fourth overtime victory, sophomore forward Grimur Grimsson scored his third game-winning goal of the year.
Grimsson now has four goals this season and is second behind junior forward Andrew "Boomer" Cruz's eight. Cruz currently ranks third in the PacWest in goals scored. Freshman midfielder Andrew Durano has also nearly reached the top of the conference assist category with six total. Sophomore goalkeeper Ian Sutherland's 32 saves puts him fifth in the PacWest in saves per game (3.56) over 10 games started in goal.

SCOUTING THE ARGONAUTS
Though Notre Dame de Namur sports the same overall record as Grand Canyon, the Argos are just a win and a tie behind the 'Lopes in the PacWest standings. NDNU has not lost a match since it faced GCU back on Sept. 22 after recently finishing tied 2-2 in the teams' rematch on Oct. 30. When ART U and the Argos met back on Oct. 9 in San Francisco, Notre Dame de Namur only barely edged out a 2-1 victory. Leading NDNU offensively are forwards Christobal Montes and Armando Garcia. Each has eight goals and three assists to pace the team. In goal, Isiah Castro has made 14 starts with 35 saves and six goals allowed.

SCOUTING THE RED STORM
Dixie State returns to San Francisco for the second time this season coming off a pair of victories over Chaminade. Currently in a battle with ART U and Hawaii-Hilo for the fourth through sixth spots in the PacWest standings, the Red Storm suffered two losses to Grand Canyon in mid October. Forward Jordan Roylance leads the squad with six goals (three game-winners) on the season.
Defensively, goalkeeper Tyler Walters boasts 46 saves with 24 goals allowed and two shutouts thus far.

THE WEEK THAT WAS
The Academy of Art University men's soccer team returned to PacWest play with two strong performances this past week. Matching up with Grand Canyon, the West Region's #3 team, on Oct. 28, ART U almost pulled off the upset in a 1-0 final. The Knights kept GCU scoreless through the first 62 minutes of action with relentless defense and four saves from Sutherland. Though the Antelopes broke through with a second half goal, Head Coach Daniel Rosaia was proud of the way Academy of Art handled the tough competition. Two days later on Oct. 30, ART U came from behind in a dramatic 3-2 double overtime win at Dominican.
