Recent Recap: The Urban Knights recently concluded a four game tournament in Arizona. The Knights played a tough schedule, including a mid-tournament double-header, and walked away with a 1-4 record. Despite earning only one victory, AAU played well, and was barely being defeated by their opponents.

Leading the Urban Knights: Thus far on the season, Laone "Lala" Botshoma and Maria "Belen" Tenorio lead with a 4-2 record. They are both on a three game winning streak through the team's six games. Botshoma also has a 3-3 doubles record, as does her doubles partner, Diane Phan.

On the Road Again: The Academy of Art University women will be on the road for the remainder of the month. Their first road game will be local, as they face PacWest members Dominican University. They follow that game with a small stint in St. George, UT where they will play the PacWest's Dixie State, and conclude the road trip by facing Southern Utah University.

Scouting Dominican University: After their first game was rained out, the Penguins won their official season opener against Notre Dame de Namur. Most recently the Penguins lost an exhibition game to Sierra College. Stephanie Lemp and Michele Freitas are leading the team right now. They both won their singles matches against NDNU, and then teamed up to defeat NDNU in doubles. In their only meeting of the year in the 2009 season, the Urban Knights came out on top with a 7-2 win over Dominican. After their game on Wednesday, the two teams will play each other again the following week on March 3rd.

Scouting Dixie State College: The Red Storm is off to a 2-4 start to their season. They started their season with a double header against BYU Hawaii and MSU Billings. After being shut out by BYU Hawaii, the Red Storm turned things around and defeated MSU Billings later that same day. Last year the Urban Knights and the Red Storm faced each other twice, and both times AAU defeated Dixie State 6-3, and 6-3. Last season Dixie finished with a 4-17 overall record. The Red Storm is led by lone Senior Ashley Lafeen who finished with a 6-13 overall record in 2009.

Scouting Southern Utah University: The game against the Academy of Art University will be the Thunderbirds first game of the 2010 season. SSU concluded the 2009 season with a 9-9 overall record. They will be led by their seniors Carmen Blanco and Kristi Latteier. Blanco finished the 2009 season with an 11-7 overall record, and Latterier finished with a record of 2-2. Combined for doubles matches, the two have a 0-2 record. SSU is a tough Division I member, and this will be the first time the Thunderbirds and Urban Knights play each other.

Looking Ahead: Following the road trip that takes the Urban Knights into March; AAU will return home to host a three game home stand. From March 3rd to March 19th, the Urban Knights will host three PacWest conference teams. The first game will take place on March 3rd against Dominican University. Game time is set for 1:30 PM at the San Francisco Tennis Club.
