Amelija SupulnieceLONG BEACH, Calif. –
A pair of Urban Knights from Academy of Art women's tennis came away with All-PacWest awards on Wednesday, which included the first Pacific West Conference Player of the Year award in program history.

Sophomore Amelija Supulniece would be just that, as she was named the Player of the Year, while simultaneously being named to the All-PacWest First Team in singles, and earning All-PacWest Second Team honors in doubles. This season, Supulniece held a No. 10 national ranking in singles with a 10-match winning streak. All 30 of the Riga, Latvia native's matches were played on Court 1, where she holds a 12-2 record in singles with a 11-1 record in doubles. Supulniece defeated five nationally-ranked opponents this season, with two of those being top 20 in the NCAA Division II pool.

Estelle NajeanAlso added to the All-PacWest Second Team was sophomore Estelle Najean, who was named to the team on the doubles court alongside Supulniece. Najean held eight wins on the doubles courts this season, with five of those coming from her time playing with Supulniece midway through the campaign. Although Najean and Supulniece only played eight matches together in doubles, they still managed to make their mark making the All-PacWest Second Team as a pair. The duo had a big win together this season, taking down the No. 42 team in the nation from UH Hilo on Mar. 27.

The award winners' seasons are still in motion, as Academy of Art women's tennis will compete tomorrow for the last time against UH Hilo at 5 p.m.
