Waipahu, HI - The Academy of Art University's women's tennis team competed against Hawaii Pacific in their final match of the Aqua tournament on Friday morning. After playing a tough match the night before, the Urban Knights played well but came up short against the No. 12 Hawaii Pacific team. The Knights were only able to win one singles game in the match, and were defeated by the Sea Warriors with a score of 8-1.

Lone senior Anna Ritchie came up with the only win for her Urban Knights team. Ritchie came out strong and it showed in. She was victorious over her singles opponent Brittney Ynfante, and defeated her with scores of 6-1, 6-3. 

The other Urban Knights were out played by their opponents in both singles and doubles. Cecilia Hedin came the closests to defeating her singles opponent but fell short by losing in two sets 6-3, 6-3. None of the AAU doubles teams were able to defeat their Sea Warriors opponents. Not only were they winless, but they were also scoreless, as each doubles team for AAU was defeated by a score of 8-0.

"Matches don't always go your way, but I'm very proud of our team for handling everything in a mature fashion," Head Coach Dave Allen said. "We will put this trip behind us and move on."

After the loss, the Academy of Art University's record falls to 5-12 overall, while Hawaii Pacific's record improves to 14-2. The Urban Knights now retun home to host PacWest members Notre Dame de Namur on April 9th. Game time is set for 2:00 PM at the San Francisco Tennis Club.
