KNIGHTS' 2012 CAMPAIGN TO CONCLUDE ON THE ISLANDS

With just three matches to play in the 2012, the Academy of Art University men's soccer team returns to Hawaii for the first time in two years. The Urban Knights' 2010 experience on the islands was a memorable one with ART U going 4-1 and winning the final two games in overtime. This trip will feature pairings with Chaminade (Tuesday), Hawaii Pacific (Thursday), and lastly UH Hilo (Saturday) for the season finale.

OPENING KICKOFF
The roadtrip begins Tuesday, Oct. 30 with ART U heading to St. Louis Field for its match against Chaminade. Kickoff is set for 10:00 AM HST (1:00 PM PST). Two days later on Thursday, Nov. 1, the Knights encounter Hawaii Pacific at 12:30 PM HST (3:30 PM PST) on Atherton Field in Kaneohe, HI. Finally, the season will wrap up at UH Hilo's Amauulu Field in Hilo, HI on Saturday, Nov. 3 with an adjusted start time of 6:00 PM HST (9:00 PM PST). Remember to follow @ARTU_Knights on Twitter and "Like" the Urban Knights on Facebook for score updates, videos, and recaps.

KNIGHT WATCH
In a fitting Senior Day performance, senior Grimur Grimsson scored the 15th goal of his career this past Friday against Notre Dame de Namur. Junior Aron Ekberg scored his first goal of the season in that same game, giving ART U a total of five players with at least one goal and one assist each. Junior Patrick Heinemann added his first two assists of the season in the NDNU match, giving him 11 in his three-year career and making him the program's all-time leader in that category. Already among the country's leaders in saves, senior Ian Sutherland turned in his own memorable Senior Day feat with a career-high 10 saves against NDNU. He now has 80 total saves in 15 starts.

SWORDS DEFENDING IN THE CLUTCH
Having gone into double overtime on four occasions this year (one against each of its Hawaiian rivals), Chaminade has partaken in several close matches in 2012. After opening the season with a pair of 2-1 losses, the Silverswords fought BYU-Hawaii to a scoreless tie before winning their first match of the year, a 3-2 double overtime victory, against UH Hilo. It was then a six-match losing streak which met CUH as they faced their top PacWest opponents this year. In the final match of their mainland roadtrip, Chaminade prevailed 1-0 over Point Loma, however, when they returned to Hawaii, it was back-to-back ties against Hawaii Pacific and Hilo that occurred. Most recently, the Swords fell 5-2 to Dominican on Oct. 26. Nearly all of the CUH offense has come from Sam Galloway who has six goals out of 23 shots on frame thus far. On the defensive side, Conor Knox has started nine of 14 matches in goal, amassing 63 saves while allowing 21 goals (2.12 goals against average). Holding a 4-2 all-time record against the Swords, ART U fondly remembers its last time at St. Louis Field which featured a 2-1 overtime victory and the historic five goals by Andrew "Boomer" Cruz.

SEE-SAW SEASON FOR SEA WARRIORS
Through a tough 0-3 non-conference season, Hawaii Pacific went on a four-match winning streak to start PacWest play and vault into first place in the conference standings. HPU even knocked off offensive powerhouse Fresno Pacific 3-2 to cap that run. However, the next stretch was tough to take as the Sea Warriors were hit with two loses and went into double overtime on three occasions without earning a win. After defeating BYU-Hawaii 2-1 and falling to UH Hilo 4-1, HPU returned to conference play at home with a 2-2 tie against Dominican this past Sunday. A dangerous attacker, Alejandro Porras has scored 11 goals for the Sea Warriors and added 10 assists, putting him in the PacWest's Top 4 in both categories. In goal, Mael Lefebvre sports a .729 save percentage after totaling 62 saves with 23 goals allowed in 15 starts. ART U looks to break through its 0-5 all-time record against Hawaii Pacific this Thursday.

THE VULCAN CONCLUSION
After enduring a 0-7-1 start to the year, University of Hawaii – Hilo has turned things around more recently. The Vulcans captured their first victory of the year on Oct. 8 at Point Loma, using a 3-1 win to create momentum. They would go on to defeat BYU-Hawaii 1-0 the next week, tie with Chaminade 1-1, and then overcome HPU 4-1. BYUH came back to take a 2-1 victory most recently against UH Hilo who will close out its own 2012 season with the match on Saturday. Like ART U, Hilo has gotten a variety of contributions from its roster, led by Xavier Fuerte's four goals and two assists. Goalkeeping duties have been split between Yonha Adrabi (eight starts, 59 saves, 17 goals allowed) and Luis Romero (five starts, 27 saves, 13 goals allowed). UH Hilo will face Holy Names on Tuesday prior to its season finale. Historically, the Vulcans and Knights have been relatively even with Hilo holding a slight 3-2 all-time advantage.

THE WEEK THAT WAS
Nearly knocking off one of their top Pacific West Conference opponents, the Urban Knights were just edged by Notre Dame de Namur 3-2 in the 106th minute this past Friday at Crocker Amazon Park. The see-saw battle had the Academy of Art University ahead first, then NDNU went up 2-1 before a game-tying goal in the 71st minute carried the match to the second OT where the Argos pulled out a victory. All ART U seniors contributed on Senior Day with solid play in the midfield by Brazer Bozlak, a goal by the program's most prolific scorer Grimur Grimsson, and a career-high 10 saves for Ian Sutherland.
