Honolulu, HI -- The Urban Knights picked up right where they left off two years ago as Academy of Art University men's soccer defeated Chaminade 2-1 at St. Louis Field on Tuesday morning. ART U made it five consecutive matches won in Hawaii by battling back from an early 1-0 deficit with senior

“The guys are really coming together as a team and I was proud how they battled through a tough first game in Hawaii,” head coach Daniel Rosaia said. “They just played hard as a team and pulled it out.”
Trading shots early, the match remained scoreless until the 24th minute when Sam Galloway, CUH's leading scorer, headed in a corner kick from Jose Carranza. However, for the final 20 minutes of the half, ART U controlled the tempo and did not allow Chaminade another attempt.
During that time, the Urban Knights capitalized on a crucial Silversword foul on Gretarsson in the box which set up a penalty kick for Grimsson who calmly put away the equalizer. The match would head into halftime with the teams deadlocked 1-1.
“In the first half after Grimur's penalty kick goal, we really tried to possess the ball and attack as a team,” Coach Rosaia said. “We made sure we didn't give up too much.”
Academy of Art University commanded the offense in the second half as junior
Aron Ekberg helped lead the charge early with two corner kicks and a shot on frame. A header shot by Gretarsson in the 55th minute perhaps foreshadowed what was coming, though CUH goalkeeper Tom Higgins was there for the save.
The most significant sequence of the match occurred midway through the period as a Silverswords header by Colton Gallt was saved by senior goalkeeper
Ian Sutherland, who made several key stops in this match, and then ART U netted the game-winner five minutes later. Junior
Andrew Durano drove along the left wing and soon found Gretarsson who headed the ball to Sveinsson who had been running with the play and "Thobbi" scored the goal that would give the Knights a permanent advantage.
The goal by Grimsson, his fourth of the season, was also the 16th of his career to further cement him as the program's top scorer. Sveinsson put in goal number two on the year while Gretarsson registered his third assist in 2012. In his hometown of Honolulu, Sutherland posted four saves with his 27th consecutive complete game in goal dating back to last season. With the victory, ART U rises to 4-11-1 overall and 3-8-1 in PacWest.
“Ian had some very big saves and really kept our team in the game,” Coach Rosaia said.
Chaminade, who drops to 2-10-3 overall, 2-8-3 in conference, was led by Galloway's lone goal and the assist from Carranza. Between the pipes, Higgins finished with three saves and two goals allowed in 90 minutes.
The Urban Knights have two more stops on their Hawaii roadtrip with a match at Hawaii Pacific this Thursday, Nov. 1 and one at UH Hilo on Saturday, Nov. 3.
