San Francisco, CA – Amid muggy weather conditions and smoke from a regional grass fire, Academy of Art University Men's Soccer battled Holy Names into overtime out at Crocker Amazon Park on Friday afternoon. The match was scoreless through the end of regulation despite an 18-9 shot advantage for the Urban Knights and finished in the 95th minute when the Hawks executed a goal off a corner kick for the victory.

Both teams were on the attack throughout the match as evidenced by the nearly 20 offsides called and it began with three on Holy Names in the first 10 minutes. Soon after, Kristof Urbanyi had ART U's first shot attempt, but it was saved by HNU's Philip Poser. From there, Jesus "Chava" Sanchez had multiple chances, one of which came across the goalie box and hit the right post, however, the team's remained scoreless.

In the 25th minute, Joshua Leader and the Hawks' Christian Mulhberger converged on a ball in the box which Leader made a diving save attempt at, but it was called a foul and resulted in a penalty kick. The ensuing shot was punched out by Leader and the scoreless tie stayed intact.

The 11th shot attempt of the half by the Urban Knights came in the final seconds with Thorvaldur Sveinsson just getting it off, but Poser was again there for the save. Early in the second half, Lennart Fleschhut came in with a header for his second shot of the match only to see it go wide.

Perhaps one of ART U's best attempts of the afternoon was on a kick by Urbanyi off the crossbar in the 73rd minute that literally shook the entire goal and unfortunately bounced back into play. Jaime Phillips of Holy Names had back-to-back chances in the 75th minute against new goalkeeper Luca Theis, but zeroes remained on the scoreboard.

Neither side broke through in regulation sending the match into overtime where the first goal would decide it. Both the Knights and Hawks put attempts on frame during the first four minutes, but on a corner kick from Mulhberger led to Phillips' header in from five yards, ending the contest at 95:36 in favor of Holy Names.

The Knights, who are now 5-4 overall and 2-2 in PacWest play, had three chances on goal from Urbanyi and two by Sveinsson, but could not find the back of the net Friday. Defensively, Leader logged one save and did not allow a goal in his 67:40 on the field while Theis had one save and one goal allowed in his 27:56 to complete the day.

Holy Names was led by Phillips who had two of his six shot attempts on goal with Mulhberger getting the assist. Philip Poser earned the shutout with six saves in 95:36 in goal. The Hawks are now 2-6 overall and 1-3 in PacWest action.

ART U looks to the weekend for its rematch with Dominican at the Penguins' Kennelly Field. Unlike Monday's first meeting, this will be a PacWest Conference contest scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM following the women's match.
