Women's Tennis Tops Dixie State 9-0

San Francisco, CA – In their first appearance at home in the past three weeks, the Academy of Art University women's tennis team handled Pacific West Conference opponent Dixie State 9-0 at Bay Club San Francisco. ART U faced the Red Storm for the second time this season and posted straight-set victories in all singles matchups in addition to a convincing sweep of doubles.

Taking care of their business in doubles in under 45 minutes, the Urban Knights quickly moved ahead 3-0 to start the morning. Freshman Nina Gajdosikova and junior Daniela Amelunge Antelo defeated Joy Naigeon and Ashley Anderson by a score of 8-1 in the #1 doubles position. Then 8-0 victories came for senior Amal Ben El Hadj and freshman Michelle Dandik Zaale over Sierra Smith and Lindsey Jones at #2 as well as sophomore Jenny Johansson and freshman Lucia Zavarcikova versus Anna Conquist and Brittny Snow at #3.

Academy of Art continued its strong play into singles as Dandik Zaale put away Naigeon 6-0, 6-2 in the #1 position and then #2 Johansson and #3 Ben El Hadj cruised to 6-0, 6-0 victories against Paige Nisson and Smith respectively. Sophomore Kinga Kurczbuch outlasted Anderson 6-2, 6-4 at #4 singles and freshman Tamara Kenia fended off Jones 6-1, 6-4 at #5. Sophomore Sarah Lemp contributed a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Cronquist at #6.

The Urban Knights return to their home court tomorrow for a 1:00 PM matchup with Dominican.
