OPENING SERVE
After their ninth consecutive win, which ties the Academy of Art record for most wins in a row across all sports, the ART U women's tennis team is embarking on a crucial road trip, facing three opponents in a row that are ranked above them in the ITA national rankings. Not only are they ranked above the Knights, but they also get harder as the trip goes on, as each subsequent opponent is ranked higher than the last.
GOLDEN EAGLES REGAINING LUSTER
The Cal State Los Angeles tennis team had lost three in a row earlier this month to drop to 6-8, but have rebounded against PacWest schools Point Loma Nazarene and Azusa Pacific. The win against Azusa avenged a 7-2 loss earlier this year, but the slide cost CSULA in the national rankings as they fell from 14th to 25th. They're led by Christie Lau, who is currently ranked eighth in the West Region in singles play, and who has teamed up with Leora Hemmerich to garner the #8 ranking in the West in doubles play as well. The Knights dropped their first ever matchup with CSULA last year.
HARRIS LEADS COUGARS TO BATTLE
The Azusa Pacific tennis team is an impressive 13-4 heading into the matchup this weekend with the Urban Knights, and have won seven of their last ten matches. Five of those seven wins have been clean 9-0 sweeps, while the losses have come against Fresno Pacific, Grand Canyon, and Cal State Los Angeles. APU is led by Emily Harris, who currently holds the #10 ranking in the West in singles play and also the #7 spot in doubles play with her partner Danae Ingwaldson. This is the first matchup between the two schools.

KNIGHTS CONTINUE TO IMPRESS
Academy of Art has laid it on their opponents so far in 2013, and with their winning streak at nine also have some other streaks going. Senior
Amal Ben El Hadj (12-0) and sophomore
Jenny Johansson (14-0) are still undefeated in singles play this season, while
Daniela Amelunge Antelo has only one loss on the year (10-1). In doubles play, the Urban Knights have an .854 winning percentage, going 41-7, including a 13-1 mark from Amelunge Antelo and
Nina Gajdosikova.
SAN DIEGO DOUBLE-DIP ON DECK
After the two schools in Los Angeles County, the Knights will head even further south to take on a pair of schools in San Diego in the same day. They'll start the day against UC San Diego, who jumped from 27th to 19th in the national rankings. The Tritons, however, have been up and down after a strong start, alternating wins and losses for most of the month of March. Point Loma Nazarene, on the other hand, is coming off a 9-0 win over Concordia after dropping four in a row earlier this month. ART U dropped a close 5-4 match to UCSD last year, while this will be their first ever matchup with PLNU.
WHAT'S UP NEXT
After running the gauntlet in Southern California, the Knights will stay in San Francisco for a four-game homestand before heading to Hawai'i for their final regular season match before the PacWest Championships start on April 18.
